League Season in Perspective

A write up from James, match secretary..

LADIES DIV 5

Notable mention to the ladies who completed a terrific 10 match season, winning 8 games and only losing 2. (They actual have the most wins in the division and therefore the least losses). However, the league system is based on games won, they finished on 466 placing them 4th in the table, unlucky ladies, a very small squad in comparison to most of the league and you did us all proud. Next year, you can win it all!

MENS DIV 7

The B team unfortunately faced very young, tough opponents, but the B team also helped us find stars in our own squad, primarily brought in play so people could play competitive tennis, we have found some good players that could have stepped up to the A team, with an influx of youthful legs and the experience of the vets, we can certainly make a greater push next season. The Mens B team, finished 4th.

MENS DIV 4

There can be no other way to describe how well the Mens A team has done, they simply deserve to be in Div 3 and even have a eye on Div 2, due to new rules being voted on last year, Mens A will stay in Div 4, despite finished second, closely behind a Devonshire, who waited until their last game of the season to overtake us. Devonshire turned the tables on a Plymstock team that was taking the league by storm, by playing players that Play in Div 1 against us. A player who has done the European Tour even played so that they could take vital games away from us. Although very disappointing, it is also something to hold your heads up high about, Devonshire was that worried that they couldn’t beat Plymstock, so they had to use Semi-Pro players. Plymstock and Devonshire lost 1 game the entire season, both Away from home, both against each other. Finishing second behind Devonshire by a mere 17 points.

It has been an absolute pleasure to watch the players, play for the club and really want to win! Men, Ladies, a massive well done, have a good break (Winter league). Thank you very much to the Club Captains, @Dave Bate, @Jess Randell and @Mo Sebastien who have been amazing at organising teams and rescheduling rained off matches.

We can be very proud as a club.
